Can you pleases introduce yourself and tell us about your background –

My name is Larry; I run a content production agency called TAE media. We are small team of media professionals and we work with top leaders and brands that want to become known in their space or want to reach more audience with their content. We help them spread their message through content to reach more audience through video and audio means. I have a background in marketing; so when I moved to Lagos I was more into working as a strategist and I have this platform where we share ideas with people who are doing amazingly great in their business and we dedicate time in helping other businesses.

So what we do is focus on helping top business leaders document their content and create content designs like for TV shows or media listening.

What are the challenges brands have in putting out their business to customers?

I think a lot of times it is being focused on Return on Investment (ROI). Everyone is chasing quick ROI like you want to put out one message and get best return on investment. So if you are trying to design one particular message that’s going to make you successful; well it doesn’t happen in 365 days but you are focused on that one day it’s going to pay off.

 How can you convince a business owner about long-term return of content publishing?

I have the notion that there’s a very big difference between brand marketing, sales and transactions. If you are in business, you have to make money; so whatever you are doing, you have to justify your transactions by pushing in the right direction. You need to have a pure balance of chasing sales, and transactions and also be focus on branding and marketing which is long-term content. So build brand for a long-term purpose – that’s fundamental.

What do you think is key in building a brand?

I really think its attention. Everyone is really different, but the number one thing is just being authentic, being self aware and to a large extent, being your authentic self. So your number one business builder is that thing that gives you attraction.

How much content should a business put out to get desired client?

its more like result driven and resource; you have to consider these things.  The word is put out as much contents as you can afford to put out. You can’t put out a 2/10 content based on the result you expect. It all depends on ambition. Your ad has to be 10/10… if its flyers you are distributing make sure that every business within 5-10 kilometers around your premises have your flyers.

How would you advice a business owner to be authentic:

I think it’s more like the stories you tell. It’s mostly about the story you want to tell about your brand.

Do you think businesses should outsource their content development or do it in-house?

It could be done both ways. I think knowing yourself and the business you have is key. I sincerely think everything balls down to self-awareness. (Listen to his podcast for more on this)

What advice do you have for persons going into content creation & for business owners?

For content creators, you really need to be educated – attend master class, watch You-tube videos, listen to podcasts. For business owners hoping to hire a content creator, you have to realize that another business can come up tomorrow with more budget, more money and out market you in terms of Ad; but if you build a brand, people gets attracted to it and will come to it versus you having to struggle to reach people.
